Swagata Sarkar  was born on 12th  November 1988 in Silchar, Assam, India, to bengali parents, Sh. Samir Dasgupta and Smt. Dipika Dasgupta. She spent her 22 years of her life in her birth place in Silchar, then she moved to Mumbai to pursue her music career.

 

Swagata Sarkar was born on 12th November 1988 in Assam, India to Bengali music-loving family, Life at Silchar was simple, pristine, unpolluted, far from madding rush of a city. There used to be cultural programmes and social gatherings very often. Her father is a singer and both of her parents are very much culturally inclined and they were very much involved with all those cultural activities. During those activities, as a small child she picked up her first lessons of music. She used to hum the same songs with her immature words whatever her father sang.

 

At the age of 4, she started learning music, mainly Bengali songs, from her first Guru – her father. She gave her first stage performance at their club’s Durga Pooja function. At the age of 6, she started getting formal training in Hindustani Classical Music. She learnt Classical Hindustani Music from Smt. Aradhna Kharade, Sh. Suresh Kharade ji and also Sh. Raju das, Sh.Anupam Chowdhary ji.

She has won the runner-ups award in Idea Rocks India Aurangabad 2013 in the whole of Maharashtra judged by Shankar Mahadevan, Eshaan and Loy.

She is also doing playback singing currently in three projects in Bollywood, her first album Bollywood Dandiya 2014 which has 1.8 lakh views on Youtube.
